Erin's Garden Journal—June 24, 2015

It's a sign!

A long-awaited one at that. We ended up being able to use reclaimed wood and hardware for everything except the screws. I feel good about that—good enough to make the tedious sanding process worthwhile.

One post is warped. I worry the strain on the slats will shorten their lives, but it helps that there are four of them to spread out the tension.

Idea: Don't I have one more piece of cedar somewhere? I could add a slat to the sign with the blog address painted on it.

Other Notes:
  • LOTS of ripe mulberries—on at least two trees, it turns out. We are going to need a ladder.
  • I missed a few days and the bush beans burst into leaf:

  • The squash are thriving.
  • Preparations are underway for us to have a canoe of native plants installed as part of the Community Canoe project to mark the former paths of Toronto's lost rivers. Date coming soon. More information here.
