Volunteering

Garden@Kimbourne is committed to 'growing food & growing community.'

Some of our volunteers have been gardening for decades, for some this is their first time; some people are passionate about being able to bring fresh produce home, some are excited about feeding food insecure people in our community, some are passionate about regenerative agriculture, some need volunteer hours for high-school, some just want an excuse to come hang.

Half of all that we produce goes to the Nourish East End food bank, and the other half goes to the volunteers who have come out on a given session.

Schedule

The regular season runs from April to October, with each year's official start and end date dependent on the predicted first and last frost of that year.

Garden Together, our drop-in gardening sessions, run twice a week:
  • Wednesday evening (6:00 - 8:00 pm)
  • Sunday afternoon (12:00 - 2:30 pm)
During a Garden Together session, you can expect 3-10 other volunteers, led by one of the members of our coordinating team and by our Summer Educational Programmer. Come by anytime during the session for as little or as long as you would like.

During the off-season, we run a Sunday afternoon skill-share workshop series on a monthly basis.
