Dug up so. much. dog. strangling. vine.

Continued to work on dismantling, rebuilding, and refilling raised beds. This time we are adding good drainage and long-term nutrients by layering gravel, sand, branches, leaves, soil, and vermicompost.

Planted from seed: Urban Harvest Maxibel Haricot Vert Bush Bean

Wednesday June 9, 2016
The mulberry fruits are starting to form. Still very green, of course.

The blueberries also have green fruits

The arugula has bolted (put out tall flower stalks, which means it's putting energy into the flowers instead of the leaves. We try not to let it bolt).

The lettuce-turnip-beet polyculture is filling in nicely.

Transplanted basil and parsley from pots under nursery row tunnel into tomato polyculture

Planted from seed:

  • Burpee Oregon Sugar Pod Peas
  • Burpee Emerald Beauty Hybrid Summer Squash
  • Urban Harvest Nasturtium Trailing Mix
  • Urban Harvest Edible Flower Mix
First big harvest of lettuce, arugula, and kale for the food bank!
