Garden Journal July 5 to July 11

July 11
Tasks

  • Turned drip irrigation on for the night 
  • Gave sad looking strawberry plant some extra water
Notes
  • Something is eating one of the sweet potato plants -slugs?
  • Very hot and no rain
July 10
Tasks
  • Watered a little but didn't use drip irrigation because it looked like rain
Notes
  • Saw a black and white ladybug on the currants, unsure of ID
July 9
Tasks
  • Put up trellises for tomatoes and squash
  • Pruned tomatoes
Harvested
  • Lemon balm: 0.3 kg
  • Currants: 0.1kg
  • Strawberries: 0.1kg
  • Snow peas: 0.2kg
  • Mulberries: 0.1kg
Collected
  • Columbine seeds
  • Russian sage seeds
Notes
  • Sunny and hot - sprinkled rain later in the day
  • Potatoes are flowering
  • Squash are vining out
  • Garden is looking very green!

  • Irrigation worked well overnight - emptied the barrel
  • Very hot and sunny

  • Installed drip irrigation
  • Planted sweet potatoes
  • Weeded burrs, goldenrod, dog strangling vine

  • Some rhubarb fell off so ate it
  • Peas are harvestable
  • Baby peas are growing
  • Very hot - warm in the evening and 26 C - Sunny
  • Ate some wild strawberries
